Bug Bounty Hunting is a security practice to find the vulnerabilities in applications, websites, networks or systems and report them to the companies who are running the Bug Bounty Program. Lots of companies list their Bug Bounty Program on such platforms or on their website and invite Ethical Hackers to perform pentesting on their platforms. In return, they get the bounties either in form of money or recognition on their website or swags (tshirts, mugs, etc.).
How Bug Bounty Hunting Works? First the company publishes their Bug Bounty Program along with the rules of engagement (scope, eligibility criteria, testing guidelines, etc). Then Security Researchers from all around the world took participation and found the vulnerabilities by following the responsible disclosure policies. Then researchers/hunters prepare a detailed report on the found vulnerabilities and submit it. Then companies verifies the submitted bugs and reward the hunter based on the severity of the bugs.
